Greetings CCEA members,

I hope this email finds you well. As you know, CCEA, in conjunction with the California Department of Education, reads all of the Model School applications each year. There is both a Northern California Reading as well as a Southern California Reading. We encourage you to consider participating in either Reading. Additionally, we are strongly encouraging all readers to participate in a “Model School” site visit as well.

There are many benefits to becoming a reader. It helps you gain experience in the Model School application process (if your school isn’t currently a model school), it empowers, equips and resources you in that you have an opportunity to read about other alternative education programs/systems, and it allows for you to collaborate with other alternative education professionals.

Additionally, CDE will send participants and their respective Superintendents a letter verifying participation, training and expertise. It really is a great experience!

Northern California Reading

If you would like to be part of the Northern California Reading, or you would like to nominate someone else from your staff, please let me know as soon as possible. The Northern California Reading will take place at the Holiday Inn (300 J. Street) in Sacramento, California on Friday, September 6, 2019.

As always, a one night hotel accommodation will be afforded you (for either the night of September 5th or the night of September 6th—your choice). Additionally, all meals are free to you (on the Reading day) and are catered in the meeting room. Breakfast will begin at 9:00 a.m., with welcome and introductions beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Reading will end around 5:30 p.m.

If you would like to be part of the Reading, or you would like to nominate someone else from your staff, please answer the following questions and email me your responses as soon as possible.

We need to have an established Readers list by August 2, 2019.

Please send me an emailed response with answers to the following highlighted questions, or apply via our Model School Readers application form. I’ve included my example below.
